You can pre-register either by post or email, please email bobfieldgrands@live.co.uk for forms.
Registration will be open at the track up until 4pm on Saturday 21st August.

Once pre-registered you can either pay immediately by cheque, cash or paypal (paypal invoices will be sent at your request)
If pre-registering & not paying immediately then you must pay before 4pm on Saturday 21st August
Pre sheets will be put out trackside at 5pm on Saturday 21st August & posted online by 5:30pm the same day.
You will have until 7pm to check these sheets then the moto sheets will be printed by 8pm & posted online by 8:30pm.
There will be a number to call in case of any problems from Saturday morning.

If you are not traveling down until Sunday morning then you will need to pay pre-event or get someone to pay for you on the Saturday.

Prize money for the main Bob Field Trophy event is confirmed as:
1st = £1,000, 2nd = £500, 3rd = £250, 4th = £100, 5th = £60, 6th = £40, 7th = £30, 8th = £20.
Prize money for the main event is being sponsored by Phil Keogh (retired builder) with additional support from McGarrigles Estate Agents.

There will be a raffle with the main prizes confirmed as two bikes to be kindly supplied by Brian Rourke Cycles and Urbanair.
Additional prizes to be confirmed.

Groove Racing have confirmed that they will be attending with the trade truck.

Trophies for the separate age groups will be sponsored by:
Mrs P Ashley, Ged Fisher, Fastlane, Love Not Money, McFall Salvages, Groove Racing and Foundation Cycling.

The format will run with novice racing on the Saturday along with plenty of open/gate practice, evening fun races and the C&K high jump competition.
Sunday will be the main race day starting at around 10am and concluding with the main Bob Field Trophy event.

Race fees will be:
£5 Novice, £10 Expert, £15 Payback.
The Bob Field Trophy fee will be £5 with all entry fees donated to the Macmillan Nurses – to race in the main event riders must have ridden a category during normal racing (16+ only). Registration for the trophy event can be done on the weekend up until 2pm on Sunday.
Camping will be charged at £10 for the weekend. Toilet facilities and security will be provided from Saturday-Sunday. Camping open from Friday afternoon till Sunday evening.
Car Parking will be £2 per vehicle.

Sunday race entry is by pre-registration only – payment must be made and attendance confirmed by 4pm on Saturday 21st August. Pre-race sheets, followed by moto sheets will be posted on Saturday evening (like a Euro). For those not arriving until Sunday morning all sheets will be posted online at a specific time on the Saturday evening for your inspection.
Payment is NOT essential at the time of registering prior to the event.
Payments can be made by cash, cheque or Paypal.

The date has been set for the weekend of 21st & 22nd August 2010.

The format will run the same as the 2009 Grands with Novice & fun races on the Saturday. Sunday will be expert racing & the Bob Field Memorial Trophy.

Entry fees will be £10 for expert categories & £15 for Pro Payback. The Bob Field Memorial Trophy entry fee is £5 with proceeds going to charity.

Camping will be available at £10 per unit from Friday night. Facilities & security will be provided on Saturday night only.
Car parking will be charged at £2 with free raffle ticket.

For 2010 entry will be by pre-registration only & all entries must be paid up by 4pm on the Saturday fun day. Pre-race sheets & moto sheets will be out on the Saturday evening & also on the blogsite (so those who have paid but aren’t travelling till Sunday can check). For anyone who may be making a short break of the weekend then here is a list of North West tourist attractions & places to visit:

Alton Towers - Britain's major theme park is approx 40 minutes drive from Crewe in Alton, Staffordshire. There is also a themed hotel on site. Information is available at: www.altontowers.com

Crewe - The Crewe Heritage Centre explores the town’s strong connections with railways while the Phoenix Leisure Park offers a cinema and bowling alley. For a bit of peace and quiet visit Queens Park next to the BMX track at Tipkinder Park.
CGR run gate practice on Tuesday & Thursday nights.
The Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, just south of Nantwich, is undoubtedly one of the North West’s most unusual places to visit as is Snugburys Ice Cream farm at Nantwich.

Chester & Chester Zoo - A good way to get acquainted with Chester is to take a leisurely walk along its famous city walls. This will take you past many attractions including the 1000 year old Cathedral, the magnificent Eastgate Arch, the Nine Houses and the Roman Garden.
Several companies offer cruises along the River Dee. Landlubbers can relax in
Chester Zoo is the largest zoological garden in the UK & well worth a visit.
Westminster Park BMX track.

Manchester - Has some fantastic museums. Its rich industrial heritage is explored by the Museum of Science and Industry and the People’s History Museum while Urbis, one of the city’s most striking buildings, offers an insight into cities and how they work. Venture west across the River Irwell and you’ll find the Quays, one of the UK’s finest examples of urban regeneration, and home to the Lowry and Imperial War Museum. For many a visit to Manchester United will be the highlight and sole purpose of a trip to the city, although ABUs (Anyone But United) can tour the impressive stadium of their underachieving City rivals.
The Trafford Centre & indoor real snow ski slope "Chill Factor" are also worth a visit.
Manchester BMX Club hold gate practice on a Thursday night.

Liverpool - The European Capital of Culture 2008 boasts the largest number of museums and art galleries in the UK after London. Albert Dock is Liverpool’s biggest attraction and home to the Merseyside Maritime Museum, Tate Liverpool and the Beatles Story. Just north of this is Pier Head, an area dominated by a trio of Edwardian buildings known as the Three Graces. The whole waterfront was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
In the city centre you’ll find the Walker Art Gallery, frequently referred to as the ‘National Gallery of the North’ and FACT, an innovative media centre. Beatles fans will be drawn to Matthew Street, home of the Cavern Club and many shops selling the band’s memorabilia.
Sports fans will not leave disappointed. Football fanatics can take guided tours of two of the UK's most famous stadiums; Anfield and Goodison Park. Just outside Liverpool is Aintree Racecourse, the home of the famous Grand National horse race.

The Lake District - There are few places on earth that can match the beauty of the Lake District. Each year over 12 million visitors come to experience its famous lakes, snow-capped mountains and picturesque villages.
The area is England’s largest national park and covers 880 square miles. Most of the land (60%) is privately owned, the rest is owned by the National Trust (25%) and other public bodies.

Coniston & Hawkshead
Grasmere
Keswick & Bassenthwaite Lake
Ullswater
The Lakes is approx 1.5 hours from Crewe.

2009 EVENT REPORT & RESULTS ONLINE....

Cheshire Ghost Riders BMX Club hosted the Bob Field Memorial Grands BMX event over the weekend of 1st/2nd August.

With the site looking professional and the Tipkinder track in perfect condition over 160 entrants took part in a weekend of BMX action.

Saturday included the renaming of the track to the The Shanaze Reade BMX Track followed by novice racing for the less experienced riders. The evening entertainment showcased a spectacular £100 high jump contest which ran to a sudden death 11.5” jump off won by local rider Ash Davey. The Club's new World Champion, Marco Dell'Isola was also in attendance throughout the weekend.

The day that everyone had come for however was the Sunday, in memory of Bob Field, the driving force behind the Cheshire Ghost Riders. The Experts came to the start gate with categories from 6 & Under to Elite, the day eventually ending with the main event “The Bob Field Memorial Trophy”.

There were wins for quite a few of the Ghost Riders in the following Expert categories:
12 & Under Cruiser – Chris Worrall
13-15 Cruiser – Ashley Worrall
7-8 Male – Mason Chidley
16+ Cruiser – Ash Davey
Mountainbike – Kieron McAvoy
13-14 Male – Shane Dean
17+ Male – Kent Bridgett
High Jump – Ash Davey

The main event saw 28 riders including host of pros line up for a knockout finale. In the mix were Olympian Liam Phillips and ex 5 times world champion Dylan Clayton. With £500 prize money at stake it promised to be a thriller. An action packed final saw the same positions as in Elite Payback with Marcus Bloomfield from Bristol (Ultimate BMX) taking the win followed across the line by Liam Phillips (Burnham/Ultimate BMX) with Calum Strickland (Mid Lancs) in third.

The trophies were presented by Bob's son, Shaun, and the Mayor of Crewe. All proceeds from the main event will be donated to the McMillan Nurses at the request of Bob’s family.

The Club would like to thank everyone who helped to organise the event, especially the many volunteers from outside of the Club .

Postcode for the track is CW2 7SR on Victoria Avenue. The car park access doesn't have a postcode but is easy to find on Queens Park Drive, Crewe, CW2.

To enter the car park access note the following directions:
If coming along Wistaston Rd from Crewe town centre go past the track entrance & turn left at the petrol station onto Queens Park Drive - the car park entrance is approx 200yds on the left.
If coming from the West Street end along Victoria Avenue turn right at the petol station onto Queens Park Drive before you get to the track entrance- the car park entrance is approx 200yds on the left.

We will try & put signs out but these may not last long!!

2009 EVENT PREVIEW

Over the weekend of 1st/2nd August "The Bob Field Memorial Grands" will be hosted by CGR in partnereship with Cheshire East Council at the Shanaze Reade BMX Track, Tipkinder Park, Crewe.
The event is being held in memory of Bob Field, the driving force behind the Cheshire Ghost Riders BMX Club for many years & trainer of a host of top level riders including multiple World Champion Shanaze Reade.

Saturday will see the renaming of the track with Shanaze and local dignitaries to be held from 12:30pm-1:30pm. After the renaming there will be novice racing, fun race events, a £100 prize high jump contest and the track will also be open for gate practice into the evening. Novice registration will be open until 1:30pm and is £5 per rider.
Sunday will be the main raceday with age groups from under 7s through to elite payback.
The BOB FIELD MEMORIAL GRANDS will be the main event of the day following racing. Trophies will also be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed riders. The top three placed riders will also receive £500 1st, £200 2nd and £100 3rd. All entry fees from this event are being donated to the Macmillan Nurses at the request of Bob’s family.
Registration is available online at reduced rates,or from 4pm-6pm on Saturday 1st and 8am-9am on Sunday 2nd. Racing will start from 10:30am on Sunday.
